BEFORE YOU SAY GOODBYE lately i’m feelin all alone i could use a distraction it’s been one too many days without you here my dear the reality sets in the reality you’re gone reality can’t face the reality i sit alone and watch tv and wait for inspiration flirtation with a half-assed plan caught up in contemplation resignation, hesitation, get up and pace the floor inside my head is something that i’d like to feed some more snapping to in the blink of an eye razor sharp wit that cuts open wide my feelings hid once have no other place to hide will you tell me you miss me before you say goodbye my friend’s a foe i know and soon we’ll turn to warring factions take action now it’s not too late it’s make or break don’t wait for reality sets in the reality you’re gone reality can’t face the reality snapping to in the blink of an eye razor sharp wit that cuts open wide my feelings hid once have no other place to hide will you tell me you miss me before you say goodbye i'm just a joke who's broke holding out hope for you to love me the way you did back when you said i was your one and only the reality sets in the reality you’re gone reality can’t face the reality snapping to in the blink of an eye razor sharp wit that cuts open wide my feelings hid once have no other place to hide will you tell me you miss me before you say goodbye

LAUGH THROUGH THE PAIN in a world of in betweens, dead-end jobs and busted dreams smile in the bad times laugh through the pain take the wrong and make it right, turn the dark into light smile in the bad times laugh through the pain ’cause i love you more than just a pretty face, pay your dues get your breaks remember what they say, cool heads prevail wipe the hair back from your eye, kiss your cheek and say the line smile in the bad times, laugh through the pain ’cause i love you i can’t take it much longer, i’m at my wits end but i send my love again again and again and again and again 'cause i love you

ALONG FOR THE RIDE i’ll eat crow until it makes you full i’m desperate man, i’ve got no backup plan you’ll know me by the whites of my eyes as i hide behind this disguise play the part of unfit to be tied happily just along for the ride we’re in neverland and i don’t give a damn you’re the greatest con i’m on the string you pull along you’ll change me just to suit your own needs plant my head with your seeds the whimpering boy standing right at your side happily just along for the ride the trail goes cold for you and i i’m happily just along for the ride trail grows cold it’s do or die i’m happily just along for the ride just along for the ride you’ll know me by the whites of my eyes as i hide behind this disguise play the part of unfit to be tied happily just along for the ride

DON’T TELL ME it comes and goes but it’s here to stay a train of thought is taking shape don’t tell me i’m sorry don’t tell me it’s not working don’t tell me it’s run it’s course, of course you’d say and i’m left here with no cards to play no cards to play don’t tell me i’m sorry don’t tell me it’s not working don’t tell me leaps and bounds the wheels turn ’round turn another page moving on the weak get strong oh, we’ll see better days so don’t tell me i’m sorry don’t tell me it’s not working don’t tell me

I GOT YOUR BACK cut right down to size at the knees predisposed to emotional leaks a living nightmare that feels so dreamlike has gone on for days oh it’s real and happening pot shots taken words talk is cheap aim high for superlative feats as the backdrop of greed and fear starts to crumble and break i can feel it all changing i got your back we’ll turn it around get back on track i got your back if you get mine we’ll leave it all behind we’ll put it all to bed and let the rest fight amongst themselves quick fix bandage bruised broken legs stand tall and won’t fall by the waist as the ground swells it moves and we start to tremor and quake in the wake of an hour early sharp tongues clear the air at their reach what’s real is it you is it me as the pied piper plays his tune rats go marching their way to a death by drowning i got your back we’ll turn it around get back on track i got your back if you get mine we’ll leave it all behind we’ll put it all to bed and let the rest the bets are on it’s too soon to call it we all just watch and wait get out of line you’re wasting your time the bets are on it’s too soon to call it we all just watch and wait get out of line you’re wasting your time it’s yours no it’s mine wait it’s ours to fall upon someday i got your back we’ll turn it around get back on track i got your back if you get mine we’ll leave it all behind we’ll put it all to bed and let the rest fight amongst themselves

SPEED OF SOUND brought down, so they say demonized to feel that way hard times are here to stay either way we’re going to waste it’s high time to run this race we’ll see tonight the world awaits won’t be long our horses are pulling away they’ll pull away, they’ll pull away if you meet me at the next go-around to test these well-oiled machines we’ll cruise faster in the blink of an eye with our headlights bearing down traveling at the speed of sound i’m behind and fortune fades your tail lights are disappearing cause tonight my focus has shifted away from the race sometimes you can’t escape between the lines are where most stay there’s more to life than constantly chasing to chase why run the race? why run the race? if you meet me at the next go-around to test these well-oiled machines we’ll cruise faster in the blink of an eye with our headlights bearing down traveling at the speed of sound

SAME OLD SCENE add up all the things that make me wanna stop take em all away i’m thinking maybe not i’ll never understand just why i never felt like belonging looking for something to make me feel brand new as i’m shuffling my feet upon the avenue it’s the same old scene but with different surroundings that’s okay, that’s okay but i’m so lonely for the only world i’ve known faster city people take the right of way with visions of perfection that could come one day bitten by a bug that turns an honest man into something that he never wanted to turn out to be yielding is just a part of life and so it seems i’m in the same old scene but with different surroundings that’s okay, that’s okay but i’m so lonely for the only world i’ve known that’s okay, that’s okay to feel unwanted and to feel no sense of belonging

SIGN THE DOTTED LINE under the dark of night he looked up and he tried to rattle the words from out of his brain unlike the other times a single word materialized followed by more words suddenly a phrase he’s got himself a big decision it’s them against his one ambition don’t sign the dotted line they’ve taken everything he’s given spread too thin is how he’s livin’ don’t sign the dotted line out of the dark of night into the bright sunshine’s rays now to our present state and how a phrase set things straight when words upon words materialized four words to be exact with no pause with no tact over and over he kept saying he’s got himself a big decision it’s them against his one ambition don’t sign the dotted line they’ve taken everything he’s given spread too thin is how he’s livin’ don’t sign the dotted line out of the dark of night into the bright sunshine’s rays

BOTH OF US KNOW have we lost our minds we’ve blinked to find our love has up and gone away standing side by side as we divide from one there’s no one left to blame both of us know and both of us just don’t seem to care it’s something we know we can’t repair we should have seen the signs but we were blind enough to miss them as they came and on the downward slide as we collide and then come to we see our errant ways both of us know and both of us just don’t seem to care it’s something we know we can’t repair both of us holding on you know we should let go both of us know i’m gonna lie to you just to save face and tell you that i know you’ll be happy someday one last song for you that i’ll sing real soft as i watch your wheels come off you’re out of control and both of us know
